Saratoga Springs is especially famous for the Saratoga natural hot springs and mineral water. Generations have journeyed to the "Spa City" for rejuvenation and healthy retreats. Many of the original mineral baths and spas are still in operation today. Reservations are recommended, especially during peak racing and leaf-peeping seasons.
Saratoga also offers a beautiful main street with interesting and inviting shops, boutiques, restaurants and cafes.
In addition to the draw of the spa, and unique shopping, thousands of visitors make the Saratoga Race Track a prime destination during the summer thoroughbred racing meet. The meet was recently extended to span 40 days. Racing begins in late July and runs through Labor Day. There are many exciting events and give-a-ways planned, making "the track" a great family day of adventure!
The Saratoga Race Course opened on August 3, 1863 and is therefore the oldest organized sporting venue of any kind in the USA.
